PPWR/ EPR and What it means....
Well, It's the 12th, and That means;
PPWR and EPR Requirements are in full effect.
The new PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (Reg. 2025/40, core duties from 12 August 2026) involved in an EU-wide commitment to reduce packaging waste by 2030) has laid waste to all small businesses in, or operating within the EU... This recent roll-out legally requires "producers" to Register to each EU member-state's recycling entity they ship to and declare the contents used for both posting and packaging (e.g. paper backing cards/ plastic baggies / bubble envelopes etc.) All whilst reporting this and the weight annually to each individual entity..
What Now? :
For the time being, I'm going to be limiting EU orders while the new European packaging and producer-responsibility rules settle into place. Hopeful that We start to see some exemptions for small businesses, or consolidation and accessibility for friendlier recycle-reporting to ~27 Countries.
As a very small independent artist just doing the thing;
This is so damaging, it's Administratively Impossible to report such declaration without weighing everything and collating this information separately.
Things could not be worse with the biggest art heist known to man (I'm looking at you generative LLM users)
Ireland and international orders outside the EU remain available as normal.
Thankfully, I'm open to the International market with some limitations that conflict with interests, belief, and general opinion and can operate normally as possible.
I'm hoping to revisit EU shipping once the new framework has settled and there is a clearer, more practical route for very small businesses to comply.
This isn't a decision I've taken lightly, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience to anyone in the EU who would otherwise like to order.
As a cheer up; I Have lowered the cost of the Art Club on Patreon from €19.99 to €9.99 (Self Producing stickers hoo-rahy!!).
Due to the nature of the club being a personal pet project; I forsee no reason to restrict it or feel obligated to cater to the abysmal rollout that operates for a "Free Market Area".
